Tyr Graig Castle, hotel in Barmouth

This impressive Victorian building has a splendid cliff-top location with stunning views of Cardigan Bay. It offers free parking and a restaurant, and is less than a mile from Barmouth’s centre.

Views were fantastic and the house grand on large proportions. We had dinner there in the evening and breakfast the next morning. It was so nice to park the car on-site and not have to go out again to eat after our afternoon check-in. Barmouth was full of tourists on the day of our visit. Beds very comfortable and we enjoyed both our evening meal and breakfast

The Sandbanks, hotel in Barmouth

Located in Barmouth and with Barmouth Beach reachable within a few steps, The Sandbanks provides a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

Great hotel right on the seafront. Rooms were perfectly functional and clean, maybe could do with a little modernisation, but excellent value for money. What made our stay so memorable was the genuinely amazing hospitality of our wonderful hosts. I was in an all female party of 10. I can honestly say no hoteliers have ever gone so far out of their way to make us feel so welcome - they really did attend to our every need, they were friendly, fun, kind and thoughtful. Wouldn’t hesitate to return, we had the perfect weekend here - thank you.

Bluebells guest house, hotel in Barmouth

Located on the beachfront in Barmouth and featuring a terrace, Bluebells guest house has free WiFi throughout the property. All units in the guest house are equipped with a kettle.

The location in Barmouth was spot on. Short walk from the train station and free parking outside the property as well as on the street. Ann and Bryn were great hosts, friendly, chatty and easy to get on with. Ann’s breakfasts were fabulous and her home baked cakes were both delicious and a very welcome addition. Room was spotlessly clean, fresh and airy. Lovely touch this morning with rose petals on the breakfast tables

Barmouth is a lovely little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink. All the usual seaside activities available. The beach is an asset. Catch the ferry to Fairbourne. Very dog friendly everywhere you go.

WE were there for the walks in Snowdonia.

WE were there for the walks in Snowdonia. Barmouth itself is a rather shabby looking town with funfairs and cheap eateries. There is only one good restaurant, Bistro Bermo which did us a beautiful takeaway because they have no room for dogs. The pubs locally served mainly very unhealthy food straight out of the freezer into the microwave. We did have one lovely fresh fish meal at the 'Last Inn'. The level of obesity we saw in Barmouth generally was immediately obvious and very concerning. Our hotel/B&B was on the outskirts of the town offering stupendous views of the bridge and estuary and into the harbour. It was ideally positioned for walks in Snowdonia and along the coast.

Been visiting Barmouth area for years.

Been visiting Barmouth area for years. Wide Sandy beaches and dunes. Barmouth is a small town with basic shops, takeaways and a good amount of pay parking. Outside of the town are lots of smaller villages, beautiful scenery including Snowdonia and castles such as Harlech. If you want a good breakfast/ fry up try the Milky Bar cafe just up from the level crossing. Never had a bad meal there in 40 years 😊👍

Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront.

Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront. The views from there are excellent. A half mile walk takes you across the railway viaduct where the view towards Dolgellau along Avon Mawddach is one of the best in Britain. To access the land on the far side of the Mawddach is best on foot, because by car it is necessary to drive either ten miles into Dolgellau or use the toll bridge at Penmaenpool, which saves only a couple of miles. The hills behind Barmouth have excellent views but involve a very steep climb. The best route up is to follow the signs to the National Trust's Dinas Oleu property. Other than that, the great attraction for Barmouth is the hill walking. All of what I've said here does depend on good visibility. Being Wales, rain and low cloud are not uncommon, but that is hardly Barmouth's fault!

We've visited the last 40 odd years....a lovely seaside town with the added bonus of spectacular scenery. The Mawddach Estuary and Bridge make it for us but equally when the kids were young there was the beautiful beach and places to go crabbing. We used to cycle along the old Mawddach railway track with them in their seats on the back. Wonderful walks, lots to do and explore.

We were made to feel welcome from the second that we set foot into Bluebells Guest House by Bryn and his wife. The guest house is located just a short walk from the town of Barmouth (probably about 5 minutes) but is right on the seafront. The room was comfortable and quiet with a TV plus tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was excellent, we had the full English both mornings but there were other choices of hot food, plus cereal and fruit. We had an excellent stay at Bluebells Guest House and will definitely be back!

Really nice room, well thought out with everything you need for your stay. Exceptionally clean, lovely modern bathroom with pretty toiletries, staff all lovely. The fridge was a great touch, iron and ironing board, it is so refreshing that someone has put so much thought into the things that make a stay away from home stress free, they even provided bowls, blankets and dog treats which we really appreciated. Walking distance to everything. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we ever visit Barmouth again.

Good sized family room with en-suite and slight sea view too which was lovely to wake up to. Hotel; Great location…probably the best in Barmouth. Great parking. Great front garden area, overlooking the sea front, ideal for travellers with dogs, outside under cover heated areas too where families can enjoy a drink, plenty of seating area, children can use the play area whilst parents can supervise. Plenty of car parking access at hotel too. Nice to have a pool table.

The location was fantastic, central to everything. Even though it’s next door to the Barmouth pub we didn’t hear anything. Property was clean and shower amazing. Nice Christmas decor was a lovely touch. WiFi fantastic. Towels supplied very luxurious. Dryer came in handy for the rainy walk days when we got socked. Lovely selection of glasses to enjoy a nice wine/ beer. Good selection on the tv/sky. Parking permit left to use main car park on sea front.

Everything! Unusual 19th Century house adapted to a hotel in the 1950's and yet stylishly upgraded without losing its period atmosphere. Genuinely friendly and helpful family team provided a smoothly run performance throughout our stay. The panoramic seaviews from perhaps a 100ft up gave a broad perspective of Barmouth and wonderful sunsets.Having to leave

Staff were friendly and helpful, despite being very busy behind the bar during "Happy Hour" Nice rooms which had been refurbished to a high standard - all very clean and comfortable. Being a very popular public house, there was a very good selection of ales and ciders. Easy access to the town and promenade
